Sofreh Earrings
Sofreh Earrings
The Sofreh earrings take their name from the cloth spread on the floor at Nowruz, on which the seven sacred items of the Haft Seen table are laid. The sofreh is the heart of the Persian new year: the surface on which everything precious is placed, the thing that holds the ritual together.
I thought about what it means to hold things. The sofreh does not announce itself; it simply provides the ground for what matters. I wanted to make an earring with that quality: something that frames and elevates, that draws the eye without demanding it.
These drop earrings are crafted in 18ct yellow gold, with a hand-formed silhouette inspired by the layered abundance of the sofreh spread. The surface moves between high polish and satin texture, catching light as the wearer moves. Hook fitting, Birmingham hallmarked.
