Persian-inspired jewellery being crafted in Birmingham Jewellery Quarter workshop

Where Persia Meets the Benches

250 years of Birmingham goldsmithing tradition brings Persian heritage to life

The Jewellery Quarter

When I chose where to bring Persian heritage into contemporary jewellery, the answer was clear: Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter.

For over 250 years, this square mile has been home to Britain's finest goldsmiths, silversmiths, and jewellers. The same benches, tools, and techniques that crafted jewellery for Victorian royalty now shape Persian turquoise and architectural gold into wearable art.

This isn't just a workshop. It's a living museum of British craftsmanship, where my Persian designs meet the precision and excellence Birmingham is renowned for worldwide.

Persian Materials

Persian Materials

I travel to Neyshabur's ancient turquoise mines, where the same families who supplied Persian emperors continue their 5,000-year tradition. Each stone is personally selected.

These Persian materials arrive at Birmingham workshops, where master goldsmiths with decades of experience transform rough stones and raw gold into sculptural jewellery.

Every piece is hallmarked at Birmingham Assay Office, guaranteeing metal purity and British quality standards since 1773.

Museum-Quality Standards

Precious Metals

All pieces use sterling silver (92.5%), 9ct gold (37.5%), or 18ct gold (75%) minimum. Every piece is UK hallmarked for guaranteed purity.

Stone Setting

Stone Setting

Persian turquoise requires specialist bezel setting to protect the stone. Birmingham's master setters bring decades of experience to each piece.

Hand Finishing

Hand Finishing

While some components may be cast, every piece is hand-finished in the Quarter. Polishing, texturing, and final assembly happen here.

Before any piece leaves Birmingham, it undergoes rigorous quality checks. I personally inspect each signature and prestige piece.

Preserving British Heritage

By choosing Birmingham, Silux London supports a fragile ecosystem of specialist craftspeople.

The Jewellery Quarter has lost many workshops to redevelopment. Each piece we create helps sustain the master engravers, stone setters, polishers, and goldsmiths who keep British jewellery heritage alive.

This mirrors my mission with Persian heritage: preserving ancient craft through contemporary demand. East and West, united in the fight to keep artisan traditions alive for future generations.
