The mahi swims through the sofreh as a symbol of life and good fortune. I captured that vitality in 18ct gold, with an emerald to light its path.

Mahi Brooch

£2,400.00

The Mahi brooch takes its form from the goldfish that swims in a bowl of water on the Haft Seen table at Nowruz. The fish represents life, abundance, and the turning of time. In Persian tradition, we watch the fish in the moments before the spring equinox arrives, a living clock marking the passage from one year to the next.

There is something extraordinary about a goldfish: that flash of orange-gold moving in clear water, that impossible aliveness. I wanted to make something that held that energy. A brooch felt right. It sits on the body as an assertion of life.

Modelled in 18ct yellow gold with a naturalistic fish form, the surface is textured to suggest scales, with fine engraved detail in the fins and tail. The eye is set with a single round emerald, vivid and alive. Brooch pin fitting to the reverse. Birmingham hallmarked.

Lead time 4-6 weeks, made to order.
