The Scheherazade Pendant is a sculptural portrait in 18ct yellow gold — a seated figure whose flowing hair transforms into the decorative scrollwork that frames the pendant itself. I drew on the Art Nouveau tradition of the figure-as-ornament: the boundary between woman and jewellery dissolves, just as Scheherazade’s boundary between storyteller and story dissolved across one thousand and one nights.

Every surface is worked in contrasting matte and polished gold — engraved patterns on her robes, high-polish accents on her face and hands — giving the piece a depth and tactility that changes with the light. Hung on a delicate 18ct yellow gold cable chain.
