Gonbad Dress Ring
The blue dome is the defining mark of Persian civic architecture: the turquoise and cobalt tilework of Isfahan's Imam Mosque and Sheikh Lotfollah rises above every roofline as a declaration of permanence, a hemisphere of deep colour against pale sky.
The Gonbad Dress Ring translates that form exactly to scale, with a deep Afghan lapis lazuli cabochon as the dome itself, and a geometric gold tessellation frame, drawn from Isfahan tilework, as the architectural drum that supports it from below.
The finish does the work that light does on a real gonbad: the lapis is matte and porous, absorbing the room; the 18ct yellow gold surround is polished, throwing it back, the same contrast you see between the stone tiles and the gilded mortar lines in the mosque itself.
A piece for the person who wants to wear something that holds a conversation about where it comes from.
Made to order at our Birmingham Jewellery Quarter studio. Lead time four to six weeks.
