I designed this cocktail ring to make a statement worthy of the stone it holds. A generous cabochon of Neyshabur turquoise commands the centre, surrounded by intricate 18ct gold filigree work inspired by the geometric patterns found in Persian mosque architecture.
The Design
The setting takes its cues from the arabesque patterns of Isfahan, where mathematicians and artisans worked together to create endlessly interlocking geometric forms. The gold filigree frames the turquoise like a window into the sky, referencing the way Persian architects used turquoise tiles to bring the heavens down to earth. The elevated gallery allows light to play beneath the stone, enhancing its natural luminosity.
