Roshanak Engagement Ring

Roshanak (روشنک): The Architecture of Light

مهر Collection  •  SL-MH-ER01  •  Signature Tier  •  From £2,200  •  6–8 weeks lead time

The muqarnas (مقرنس) vault is one of Persian architecture’s supreme achievements — a geometric construction where stone is carved into stalactite cells, each tier cascading inward to guide the eye toward light at the centre. Walk beneath a great Persian dome and look up: you are looking at mathematics made holy.

I designed Roshanak to translate this architectural principle into a diamond ring. The halo is not a circle. It is a two-tiered muqarnas structure: an inner honeycomb of smaller diamonds forming the stalactite cells, an outer tier of larger stones creating the stepped, vaulted edge. Together they hold the centre diamond the way a great dome holds its lantern — with structural intention and upward reach.

The shoulders are engraved with islimi (اسلیمی) arabesque scrollwork — the flowing vine geometry of Persian manuscript illumination, found on the margins of Shahnameh manuscripts and carved into the plaster of Persepolis. Each engraved line follows the organic arabesque logic: no beginning, no end, the continuous curve of Persian artistic thought.

Roshanak (روشنک) means ‘bearer of light’. The name is one of Persia’s oldest — borne by a woman whose radiance entered Alexander’s world and never left.
