Girih Cuff | Openwork Gold Statement Bracelet
The Architecture of Gold
I took the name directly from the Persian word for knot - girih - the geometric strapwork system that Persian architects mastered a thousand years ago. Persian craftsmen were producing quasi-crystal tiling in the 1450s - mathematicians in the West only described it in the 1970s.
The Girih Cuff is a wide statement cuff in 18ct yellow gold, fully pierced in the openwork jalee technique. The entire surface is a girih strapwork field: 10-pointed star rosettes interlocking across the gold, with negative space where the architecture breathes. High-polish ribs. Open lattice. 35mm at its widest, tapering to 20mm at the terminals. No stones - the drama is gold against skin.
