Gol-e Sefid Earrings | 18ct White Gold, Sapphires & Diamonds
Gol-e Sefid Earrings | 18ct White Gold, Sapphires & Diamonds
I created the Gol-e Sefid Earrings to capture the eternal geometry of Persian paradise gardens in wearable form. Each earring features an intricate eight-petalled flower motif inspired by the water fountains found at the heart of Isfahan's gardens, where mathematical precision meets organic beauty.
At the centre of each bloom sits a 5.0mm round sapphire in deep Persian blue, representing the central water source that gives life to the garden. Radiating petals are outlined in brilliant-cut diamonds that catch light like morning dew on rose petals. An outer scalloped frame adds architectural depth, referencing the layered garden walls and pavilions of Safavid-era design.
Materials
- 18ct white gold (8.0g total, 4.0g per earring)
- 2 round sapphires, 5.0mm each (deep blue)
- 128 brilliant-cut diamonds, 1.0-1.2mm each (E/VS minimum quality)
- Lever-back fittings for security
Cultural Heritage
The eight-pointed star pattern appears throughout Persian art, from architectural tilework to miniature paintings. In Persian garden design, the number eight represents the eight divisions of paradise. I designed these earrings to honour that sacred geometry whilst remaining thoroughly contemporary and wearable.
Each petal is individually set by hand in Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter, where British precision craftsmanship brings Persian heritage to life.
